Heard on a recent news story, about finding help for people addicted to internet porn.
My first thought was why? I admit i'm farily addicted to internet porn myself, but it dosn't effect me going to work or out with family and friends for social outings. Not sure what to make of it.
Any thoughts?

Well for myself it's an alternate form of entertainment have had no prob's.

I figure as long as porn doesn't affect my life negatively -- like pajero said, I don't skip social events or school just to sit home and watch it -- I don't consider it a problem. I'm not even sure when an intense appreciation for internet porn becomes an "addiction" anyway. I guess when the negative factors outweigh the positive?

I don't get it either. I watch porn as much as I can. But, it is always second to work and other responsibilities. I find myself thinking about watching porn and masturbation, quite often during other activities but it isn't a distraction. I can't say that I am addicted, but I would hate to live without porn.

Refreshing honesty. Me too.

I was semi-addicted to porn to the point where spend hour trying to view what I could at work...even though most of it was blocked. I'd still try to find ways around the blocking software...and was successful sometimes. The best thing to happen to be was when I got busted and almost fired. I probably should have been fired but I admitted my mistake and said that I was happy to have gotten caught. So, they gave me a second chance.

The mind has only one "addiction center" and if you are someone with an addictive personality or mind (you maybe can't control this, you just are) you try to find something that will hit that spot and soothe your needs.

So for some it's really destructive like drugs or gambling or stealing stuff...
But sex is something everybody does so you can't say it's destructive, and porn is always around and a little doesn't seem to hurt....

Therapists try to get people to switch to "healthy" addictions like exercise, which I have to say is great for both getting you away from places that cause you trouble and also doing your body a hell of a lot of good.

I'd say porn can be addictive, and like any other addict we are likely to deny it as long as possible..... "I don't have a porn problem!!"

I'd say just look at your life, see if you act addictive with anything else, including positive things, and keep masturbating and look at porn when you want to (you will anyway) but keep it within limits and also keep doing the positive stuff.

I agree with a lot of the comments here. I would find it very difficult to give up masturbating or porn so from that point of view I'm an addict. I spend around 2-3 hours a day masturbating to porn, but I also run and cycle every day, work full time and go out with friends and family regularly. For me it's only the same as watching TV and I reckon most people watch more than 2-3 hours.

I am fully addicted to masturbation; porn is what I use to masturbate with, so I call it masturbation addiction rather than porn addiction. Probably just terminology.

I often find it difficult to limit my masturbation and keep up with other obligations in life. I think that is a danger of chronic masturbation.

I admit that internet porn can be addictive (especially free) however to the point where it could ruin me? nope.

I agree with what has already been said... enjoying porn and using it to masturbate regularly would not constitute 'addiction'.

You know something is an addiction when it controls you rather than you controling it. If porn (and masturbation) stops you having normal relationships... interferes with work or school... or you have not seen your family in two months because you are jerking off in your room all the time you might wanna cut back or get help.

My wife lost her sex drive altogether about 5 years ago. I'd never even watched porn at all until that time. The only porn film I'd ever seen part of was back in the early 80's before we had the quality stuff we do now. The one I saw grossed me out major. Now I am a porn nut and enjoy looking for videos on line that will push my buttons. Masturbation is the only sexual activity I have now. Some days I don't even think about it, others I go 3 to 5 times. I am well aware that I could easily become addicted to getting stoned and masturbating. When I'm getting close to that point a little alarm goes off in the back of my head. It's hard as Hell to stop for a while, but I've been able to every time that alarm has gone off so far. So I guess I am a semi-addict.

I like to jack off a lot do it as much as I can. Like bogey58 says, second to job and other responsibilities, I agree and do the same. yes, I do prefer to watch porn and jack off for celebs in my free time, its my favorite hobby. some spend hours golfing, fishing, or playing xbox, I choose masturbation.

Hell, to late for me to get any help. Been looking at porn as far as I can remember, and jerking off forever.
Guess I'll have to double up on both now, I do love beating out cum to porn!!
