This lovely lady is stretched pretty bad because the forum makes all image posts the same size. Is there some way to keep pics proportional when posting them? Not full size, obviously, but not distorted either?

I was wondering how complicated it would be to constrain the thumbnails in forum posts so that the images aren't distorted anymore. For example:
