It's OK chat is backup...........but what about all this join #penang that keeps flodding the pm's it's obviously spam can it not be stopped?

Any idea when we might see some form of moderation in there? Recently I've been seeing some of the same old.. "unsavory" types that were there before start to pop up, as well as some new ones that know there is currently no moderation. Even as I type this theres someone in the pic trading room posting incest toons. I, and I'm sure many others, would hate to see something happen to the rooms again because of these people.

Also, someone mentioned the whole #penang pm spam that is still going on. Not sure about that one though as I don't believe that has anything to do with the room specifically, since the names are never in the rooms; it's probably a server thing. We can /ignore them, but it's only temporary since they often switch names to keep it going. I have found that for now if you do a /whois and /ignore the actual address, it will prevent additional spam when they change names. It's still only temporary, though; eventually they use a different address.

Couldn't you require registered nicks to join the chat channels?

Add a spot in the the jackinchat profile for IRC name and only allow those names into the channel.

--I'm working on additional mods. Real life (including a family emergency) has been interfering in that process.

--Regarding the #penang spam, if they're PM, there's very little that can be done on our end. As long as they're connected to dalnet, they can PM anyone on dalnet.



The room *can* be set to registered nicks and/or invites only. I'd have to double-check, but I think registered would still allow any danet-registered nick in. And, a decent amount of our traffic comes from people not accessing via the site. As far as adding such a login spot to the JC profiles, not sure how easy or difficult that would be, given this site is 100% custom code.

If you could before, your same means of access should work. Nothing about the room has changed except transferring the two rooms from Ben to me.
