The problem is the crappy board software. It ignores the links of the images, and instead makes links to the thumbnails itself. How can I correct this? The links are there in the source code. What else can I do? How do you post images with links with this stupid board software?

No, it is not the board software. The image URL that you posted (https://abload.de/thumb/227740006-front-pdpb1unr.jpg) is obviously the wrong one. It is the thumbnail-sized image, and not the original size. You can tell because the URL has the word "thumb" in it and the original images dimensions (2500x2000). You need to go back to the image host you use and insert the URL for the original image.

It is the board software. As I tried to explain, I did not post this URL as the link URL, but the board software substitutes the image URL for the link URL. Yes, it is unbelievably stupid, but it is true. It is just another bug in this lousy software. When I click the "edit" button the source code is absolutely correct as I posted it. It is just the rendering that is wrong.
In the source code I find these correct links to the big images:

Is there a way to post images that do not link to the image file itself but to another (a bigger) image? If so, how is it done? Would the admin consider to install a decent board software, please?

Why are you using those? Just put the direct link within image tags. Like this:
