Has anyone had experience with the new yahoo messenger? Does it work well with pic and file sharing?

From what I can tell it's pretty shit- also a major limitation is you can't see if any of your contacts is online- seems like a retrograde step.

Yeah, seems like a big step backwards, not near as good as the old messenger. I had a good time talking to a buddy the other night and I was able to send him some pics, but still not as good as it was

it's crap, actually deleted my yahoo account altogether because of it...i think most are migrating over trillian and Skype

I think it's pretty much useless...and no voice anymore so what's the point. I've deleted my Yahoo account now

Yeah YIM seems to have intentionally shot themselves in the foot.
They said it was a move towards a more texting style format with overtones of email style. Not sure they realized that we all have ,well, texting and uh email for that. We liked Instant Messaging.
Trillian seems to be a very good replacement, not perfect but the closest of any other I've tried.

What he said. YM is crap now. I got rid of mine and just use Trillian which seems to work pretty much how YM used to work.

I don't think they shot themselves in the foot. They relieved themselves of a lot of liability for a product that wasn't paying for itself.

A terrible loss, I agree, but I understand. I think RABBIT is the best replacement. Something will come along....

The old Yahoo Messenger could have been invented just for masturbation addicts like ourselves. I haven't bothered with the new one and am using Trillian instead.

Yeah, I know they closed down the older version of YM which I was using. And I've heard nothing but bad things about the newer version, so I doubt I will even bother. Which is a shame though because I've had some real hot chats on there.

I have given up with the new one. You can't see who is online, there is a weird log in that you have to do with a phone, and it simply doesn't work for me. Shame as I had a lot of friends on there.
