I ran onto this really weird article about YMCA history.
http://www.vocativ.com/culture/fun/fairly-recently-ymca-actually-required-swimmers-nude/index.html
I remember those days. The "Y" required all the boys to be naked in the pool. Naked male swimming seems to have gone on for more than 50 years. Seems like non-sexual nakedness was a sort of a male bonding ritual. It was big in the schools too. As soon as they stripped off their jockstraps after gym class, boys had to shower in an open shower room with no privacy. People started coming to their senses in the 1960's and 70's, with the death of the male macho bonding bullshit and the arrival of common sense. Nevertheless, some pervy old guys I know still think of those as the good old days. Lots of them are military guys who will tell you how much they enjoyed all the male naked togetherness in the military. No wonder the old farts fought female military service so long and so hard.
