In my experience on discord, I think people can only broadcast in a designated channel but can go to a image trading channel to post images/links. Moderators won't have to bounce around too many rooms.

Right. If they're in a voice channel, they can hear it whatever channel (or server) they've got in focus on their screen. I'm referring to any sort of moderation of that voice (or video) chat in that channel. Getting rid of people for talking about, say, underage or whatever can't be automated for voice like it can for text. So, part of the thinking is that gating access to public voice/video would make it easier to keep an eye (or ear) on, with a more limited selection of people able to access it.

I am not that familiar with Discord but wondered would the new platform make it easier to text chat with other people where you won't experience the usual lag or slowness when talking or dropped chats.

I agree, if I could verify by email thats fine but giving my phone number is a deal breaker for me.

You seem like you know your way around discord, which is good. Ive been recommending discord for a long time now for us masturbators. Its perfect. A few things I would put into the thought pool:

1. A lot of masturbation/porn servers already exists. There is one particular masturbation server that would compete with this one the most. Im a member and I love it. Its wonderful. You probably know about it, but if not and you want to know more dm me.

2. Regarding cam and voice. I have seen the spam dealt with in multiple ways. Again, you may already know all of it, but in case you dont.. MOST of the voice/cam spam can be dealt with without moderators as you have the ability to mute/block anyone. So if someone enters the cam/voice room and is an asshole everyone can just mute them and they get bored and eventually leave. Ive also seen it where users are required to either be a member of the server for a length of time OR are required to rank up to a certain level by actively participating in the text channels and earning rank up points. This stops the trolls looking to just enter video or cam right away and trolling.

3. For anyone concerned with using your phone for validation.. it really isnt a worry. You validate via text. You delete the text. And youre done. If youre hiding it from your wife, just be sure she cant see your phone when you log into discord and youre good.

4. iOS recently made NSFW servers unviewable on Apple devices. Just a thought. I know some of the big porn servers started as public, gained a large following, then went private to avoid being shut down. These servers I can still view on my iPhone, but some have been flagged as NSFW and are now not viewable on my iPhone. Not sure what the best strategy is, but just letting you know.

Hope the server is successful. Discord really is the best thing available for masturbators who like to share screens, porn, pics, videos, cam with each other and talk. Easy peezy with basically no bugs.

The main reason that Rod and I started to look into this is because the site owner was thinking of changing over to this platform fully.

1. Honestly, aside from a nudist server I'm on, my Discord history is very vanilla (and nerdy) - primarily roleplaying game related servers, and a Star Wars server. So, I don't know which one you're talking about, but I'm always glad to check out such material. Purely for research purposes, of course. But, I really wouldn't see them as competition. The world's full of horny people, so the more outlets, the merrier.

2. All of that is absolutely valid, and the sort of thing I was talking about in terms of gating access, along with another option or two.

3. Exactly. Thanks for describing it. Behind the scenes discussion, we're leaning towards not going that tight with live, but it's definitely an option provided by Discord.

4. Yep. The owner of that nudist server I mentioned looked into it, and it seems that Discord is flagging NSFW servers as either pornographic or non-pornographic. From what they told him, it's the former channels that are supposed to be invisible to non-moderators on iOS devices. The nudist server would be considered NSFW/non-pornographic because there's no sexual content, just nudity. This one would, naturally, fall under the pornographic umbrella. And, granted, there hasn't been much posted in the way of pics during our testing (at least that doesn't get cleared within 24 hours to give a clean slate), but my "vanilla" account can still see everything. No idea if that's intentional on Discord's part ("Sure, sure, Apple...we're abiding by your requirements so we can stay in the App Store. *wink*wink*nudge*nudge*" or if they just haven't gotten around to all of them.

Oh interesting, gosh been so long since I've been in the JC chat. I've never tried discord. Sounds like the new chat could be like the old dick.net - which had the text, voice & video options.

I find myself using discord servers for masturbation talk way more than I do jackinchat now. They are so much more immersive than the forum. I do get a lot of great conversations on the jackinchat irc chat, and if that was moved to discord, it would be so much more amazing!

The deal breaker for me would be if there was a phone verification. Discord saves everything, and I don't trust them with my number. There's one server I'd like to participate in that wants a phone number, and then there's the panties, bras, and lingerie server that wants a drivers license. Yikes..... nope to both. There are plenty of other servers to get on.

I've been on discord for a little over a year. I got invited to a server for another hobby I'm in. Learning curve is not that bad. I suggest downloading the app on your pc, join some random servers (there's a server for just about any interest/hobby) and start learning the ins and outs.
It didn't take me long to find the porn/masturbation servers. The interface is outstanding. It would be great to have a jackinchat server. I find that many discord users are younger. It would be nice level the playing field and chat with people my age and older who have similar interests and fantasies.

I'm not a youngster and I'm fairly proficient with using discord. I'd be happy to help anyone who is apprehensive about using it due to the learning curve. I'm around on an almost daily basis, so my response turnaround would be acceptably short. I think this has potential to be a significant boon for the masturbation community and lifestyle practitioners.
