I seem to get that message if I'm trying to post from my ipad... from the desktop/laptop doesn't happen.

As of several updates ago, iOS (iPhone/iPad) maps raised punctuation (quotation marks, apostrophes, etc) in a way that the board's code doesn't recognize. I recall reading a workaround that can be done (turning off a particular functionality on iOS devices), but don't recall the details.

I've seen it affect other sites, as well (if I post to a nudist site I belong to from my iPhone, it drops out all raised punctuation).

So, you don't have to lose all punctuation...just raised. Annoying, yes. The site owner knows about it, but I'm not sure what - if anything - he can do about it without a domino effect to other parts of the board's code.

Thanks to Rod and others, I learned that eliminating some punctuation marks always fixes it. On my Windows PC, I've found that the only punctuation marks I have to eliminate to fix it are quotation marks as in "....", and the apostrophe, such as is used in the possessive form.....'s.

Eliminating apostrophes and quotation marks is all it takes to fix the problem for me. There might be some less commonly used punctuation marks that would also cause the problem, but if so, I've never found another one. It's just fine with commas, periods, question marks, etc, for example. Also OK with semi-colons, colons, hyphens, I'm pretty sure.

Glad we got this solved. Now if we could only get these hosers to use the image and link functions...
